Designing the Future

A crash course covering basics of futures thinking approach for design undergraduates

This 2-days crash course was designed and taught to the 1st year design students at the University of Petroleum and Engineering in Dehradun, India. In the program, the students were introduced to the main concepts and methodologies of futures thinking. The classes took place online and were attended by 100+ students.
The course recognised futures thinking as an approach to design and thinking about the future. The material introduction to the theory of futures studies as well as introduced some practical examples. In an interactive session, the students participated in simple exercises to imagine the future of the design industry in 10 years.
